For unit 1 i have researched lots of photographers for inspiration, such as Man ray, Steven Pipin and Pierre Cordier. These photographers helped me develop and gain new ideas and techniques for all of the topics i did. One photographer that i researched was Man Ray, i found his work when i was researching about photograms and Rayograms, his work really stood out to me when i was doing that topic, however my evaluations and examples weren't the best, however it made me learn new techniques and how to become a better photographer. He influenced me through out many topics because his photography were fantastic and they influenced me to improve more and more. Another photographer I explored was Ralph Eugene Meatyard. I tried to emulate his work in the way that he uses a telephoto lens and the way he frames his natural subjects to create an abstract image.
I have investigated three different themes for example Mobile photography/Street Photography, Abstract and Pinhole. The starting point for my mobile photography project was researching the photographer 'Misho Baranovic' because he was fantastic and a big inspiration to me because his work was so good, He experimented mobile phones by taking images of landscapes and my favourite part of photography at that point. When i researched the topic more, i felt less confident as i didn't really feel happy about going up to people and taking photo's of random people, but when i went on my first photography trip to London, i was made to come out of my comfort zone and do things i would of never thought of doing , i took loads of fantastic images and it gave me a lot of experience, which i still put to use today. I took lots of images using an ipod, I tried to make images similar to those of Oliver Lang in the way that he composes his images.
For Pinhole photography i started by researching how to make and use pinhole cameras, to see how to make final pieces like the photographers i researched on Pinterest, I took a big interest to Nancy Breslin, because of how her work related to theme parks and roller-Coasters, she was very inspirational at the beginning, However i needed to go back to Pinhole photography as my experimentation wasn't good enough so i needed to recreate what i did before but in a more professional way.
Also i looked at Mobile Photography which i thoroughly enjoyed this topic, This because you got to go out and take whatever you wanted from the street, for example when you would go up to people and take a quick shot, at first it was really awkward and then i became more comfortable with the idea of doing it, which helped me gain the confidence to actually take loads of meaningful images and take a selection of them.
Finally, abstraction was the theme that I have enjoyed doing the most. This is because you can create an abstract image from any subject, making the most common object into something mysterious and unrecognisable. I think this theme was most successful because there is such scope at abstracting an image, through chemicals, framing or use of camera functions. I have developed and sustained aspects of each photographer's work I investigated by using elements of their work throughout each of my experiments.
