Street Photography!
EveryBody Street Documentary!
|
This video shows a day to day life of a professional street photographer, there is a various amount of unique photographers there that take the most unusual photo's but then you would probably never see them in your life. This photo gave me an idea of how to go about street photography and how it would/will help me in the future this is a big inspiration to me!
It gives the explanation of how hard it is for photographers how they go and take so many images in different conditions and may still not even get payed for it, I really do like the way the go through so much for just an image. |
Bruce Davidson!
Bruce Davidson was born on born September 5, 1933 in Oak Park, Illinois. At age 10, his mother built him a darkroom in their basement and Davidson began taking photographs. Soon after, he approached a local photographer who taught him the technical nuances of photography, in addition to lighting and printing skills. His artistic influences included Robert Frank, Eugene Smith, and Henri Cartier.
Bruce Davison is an American street artist and seems to take a huge passion in what he does, his photo's show a meaning and thats why i love photography. In his photo's i see what happens in daily life like happiness or sadness or poverty. He is a real inspiration of how he takes his photo's. However i love the way he expresses his emotions with the street and graffiti, how he takes photos of people in black and white expressing there feelings. |

Harry Callahan!
Harry Callahan left almost no written records—no diaries, letters, scrapbooks or teaching notes. His technical photographic method was to go out almost every morning he walk the city he lived in and snapped numerous pictures. He then spent almost every afternoon making proof prints of that day's best negatives. Yet, for all his photographic activity, Callahan, at his own estimation, produced no more than half a dozen final images a year. Callahan was a brilliant street photographier he didn't care he just went out snap after snap and he got the best photo's he could possibly get.
This is an evaluation on a photo Harry Callahan took i like this photo is very interesting because the composition is fantastic i mean it has a proper meaning you have the reflections you have a plan block of flats but harry has made a boring photo in to a magnificent photo. the depth of field is quite shallow and doesn't go back far but the tone is just right as you can see some light coming through as the rest is darkness. |
Shadows!
Street photographers take pictures of shadows which are really effective way of attracting the viewers attention. the definition of shadows 'An area that is not or is only partially irradiated or illuminated because of the interciation by an opaque object between the area and the source of radiation'. in this photo there is light all around the love part and then the love part is dark which makes this photo a shadow. the context of this photo looks to be aimed at love and friendship. The tone is mixture of light and dark over all of the photo.

Photo Challenge #1 - Ways of Seeing!
- Take a look at these examples of street photography. Your challenge is to respond to these examples by creating images of your own that borrow these viewpoints, subjects and compositions.

Looking Down!Position yourself in a place which allows you to look down on events and objects below.
Looking down is a topic which you base your self or camera pointing down on a lower object or place, i enjoyed this topic because i got quite a few good shots with shadows walking by which can come under some of them subjects. My favorite looking down photo is the one with me holding my I pod over the barrier which gives a call effect because it looks like i am on the ground with a fence around me. However i wish i took more images outside of school to do with this technique. Also i wish i took more of a range of images, for example on top of buildings or hills/mounts. |
Shadows & Reflections! The topic was shadow and reflection, this is quite a easy topic but you need to be in place at the right time and place.
I took these photo's in a group which was dedicated to this specific topic, I took photo's which were interesting but some were bad in which they had bad composition or no focus, although i still added them to show you my progression. My favorite photo is the photo of the sun and you have the aeroplane track on top, this photo has a fairly good composition but it is kind of lopsided, however the reflection directly behind the tree is very good it gives it a reflective mood, like its not bright but its not dark like the sun is about to set. |

Street Photography Techniques!
Triangle's!
Triangles are one of the best compositional techniques you can use in your street photography to fill your frame, add balance, and add movement in your images. When you take photo you will never know that there is a triangle in your photo until you look after, when people take photo's they don't realise that in the photo there is a triangle form, so there not really intentional. As you can see in these photo's you can see the three children but in a form of three as you can see were the triangle's are.

The Rule of Thirds!
The rule of thirds is a rule of thumb or guideline which applies to the process of composing visual images such as designs, films, paintings, and photographs. The guideline proposes that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections. Proponents of the technique claim that aligning a subject with these points creates more tension, energy and interest in the composition than simply centering the subject would.

Individual Work!
|
We all went out side with ipods and take the best photo's we could take but we all decided to work individually, which helped us focus and work much harder. I went out and took photo's that had a reflection or cropped and i thought i did very well i had a rage of depth, i had a huge rage of depth then i have small rage of depth. the composition of some of this photo's look really

My Evaluation of my Photo?
I took this photo in a photography lesson with a cannon/Camera, i like this photo because it has a nice depth of field and in the background you have the sun's rays coming through the tree which gives this photo a lovely appearance, the tone is mixed and the composition is laid out nicely the camera was but on to a fence and snap you have the sun in the background you have the tree the stairs the railing and it has a dark gleam which makes it look like it has an effect or been edited but it hasn't. The downside of this photo is the exposer i don't think it has a lot of light and is too dark.

Individual Work |
Task: the task was to go out and take photo's but individually not with your friends or others all by yourself so you can get the best quality and pictures? |
My Favourite Image!I took this photo by myself/individually which helped because i had know influence from friends/class mates. This photo has a misty/moody sky with the suns beams coming through which reflects of the puddles which you can see all over the floor and near the basketball net. The tone is really dark and a tiny part of colour which is part of the reflection. The depth of field is beautiful because it goes on for a huge distance. The thing that i love mostly about this photo is that it looks like it has an effect but it doesn't just a plain old normal IPOD camera.

My Homework!
|
My task was to go out and take photo's like a street photographer and that is what i did i went out there with a camera and went snap snap not worrying about the outcome or anyone else just there to take pictures. The turn outs on most of these photo's are fantastic i got shadows, reflections, cropping and photo's that meant something (for example the photo with the bricks and dirt a start of a new beginning) also the composition is not perfect but it has a some good features but on the other hand not the best.

My Evaluation of Triangles!
William Eggleston |
William Eggleston was born in Memphis, Tennessee and raised in Sumner, Mississippi. His father was an engineer and his mother was the daughter of a prominent local judge. As a boy, Eggleston was introverted; he enjoyed playing the piano, drawing, and working with electronics. From an early age, he was also drawn to visual media, and reportedly enjoyed buying postcards and cutting out pictures from magazines. William went to switzerland when he was 15 to go to a web school/Boarding school and he had loads of bad experience but in the end he became a fantastic photographier.
This was probably one of the most interesting photographs i have seen, The main focus of the photo is the tricycle which looks really old/precious i would say one of the first bikes every tricycles made. Its a lovely background behind the bike you have the sky but its all clear no clouds or nothing but that could be an effect. The tone is has only got white/light the depth of field is very small, Overall i think this photo shows a lot about the features of the area and the forseeing. |

Simularities
In these two photo's there is not many similarities because they are basically two different images in one photo you have a couple women and dog and then a baby dog and the other has a man jumping over water (lake/pond) with his reflection. although they are the same shade/tone they are both in black and white. The composition of both of these photo's is very central and semi-focused.
Differences
There are so many differences between these images for instance in the lee friedlander image there is reflection of the man in the water but it doesn't seem to be the main attraction because it isn't focused just on him like the other image it focused on the dog and the feet and in the background it is all blurred. There is loads going on in the image taken by lee it looks to be like a cemetery or factory, The tone is dark and dull and really sad and moody. But in the other one it looks really happy and if it wasn't in black and white it would be sunny and full of happiness.
4 images from different categories and write about them?
1. I took this photo on my school trip to London with my photography and i got this photo and more on the way and from each exhibition, As you can see in this photo there is a man walking with a motor bike helmet on. I chose this picture as one of my best 4 pictures because i went for it i tried to take a close up and that's what i did as you can see the tone is bright and happy for instance in the background you can see a bridge. The composition is very well placed and arranged, also in this photo there is a rule of third and a triangle the focus of this photo is focused on the mans face because the mans helmet catches your attention.
2. This photo was taken in the summer holidays for a task that was set for mobile photography, i really like this photo because it reminds me of like miracles and happiness because you have the sun ray which is shinning out of the cloud which gives a bright effect to the picture. i don't really like the composition because the tree and the fence is in the way so i wish i was in an open space or change the arrangement of which i took it in. the focus is mainly in the center where the cloud is because that is the brightest part of the picture, the tone of the picture is half and half because the tree's darken the appearance.
3. I also took this photo on my trip to exhibition's on London but i like this photo because its landscape and its a magnificent due to all the buildings which shows it has got the rule of thirds because there isn't a main focus, the tone i very one sided because its all bright and colorful and the river is dark but light at the same time. the composition is good i like the position and the arrangement due to nothing is in the way of the view, however i dislike the trees in the way of the river which gives a unfocused effect.
4.This is the photo i am most proud of saying its mine you may think this has had effects and been edited but it hasn't it was the beneficial side of bad weather you get brilliant reflections like you see near the basketball net. I look this photo on the topic of reflections. the mood of the sky kind of made it to dark for the best outcome the composition is fantastic the arrangement is good and the through out the hole the photo is full focus

this might not seem to make sense of what it shows but this means a lot to me and what potential anyone can have in live you don't need a good camera or the best equipment you need to be inspired to make something and carry on with it this is what inspired me to do photography showing people what you can do with a camera and how magnificent things can be, i hope one day i will get to this stage.
